The Camino Way 100 Sarria to Santiago walking tour is a 9-day guided journey along the final 100 kilometers of the Camino de Santiago, the minimum distance required to receive the Compostela.
This route offers a meaningful introduction to the Camino. You walk through the green landscapes of Galicia, historic villages, and timeless paths.
For more than a thousand years, people have walked to Santiago de Compostela. In the Middle Ages, this was one of Europe’s most important Christian pilgrimage routes, leading to the tomb of Saint James in northwestern Spain.
Today, travelers still come from around the world to walk with religious, spiritual, or personal intention. Some come to reflect, others to mark a life transition, or simply to experience this historic path for themselves.
Camino Way 100 Sarria to Santiago Walking Tour
We gather in Lugo, a beautifully preserved Roman walled city and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
From there, we transfer to Sarria, where our walk begins. Over the following days, we move steadily westward through the green countryside of Galicia. Forest paths, rolling farmland, stone villages, and quiet country roads create a landscape that feels welcoming and timeless.
A defining part of this journey is where we stay. Each afternoon, we return to carefully selected casas rurales, family run pazos, and small historic inns set in the Galician countryside. These are places rooted in local life. Shared dinners, regional cooking, and relaxed village evenings allow you to experience rural Galicia from the inside.
Along the way, we cross medieval bridges and pass through historic pilgrimage towns such as Portomarín, Palas de Rei, and Melide. We climb to Monte do Gozo, where pilgrims for centuries have caught their first glimpse of the cathedral towers. Our final steps bring us together into Santiago de Compostela, arriving on foot at the cathedral.
Spanish Steps has been guiding pilgrims on the Camino since 1995. Our long experience shapes every detail of this journey.
Daily distances are balanced and manageable. Your luggage is transported for you, and a support van is nearby if needed. Breakfasts and most dinners are shared, creating both comfort and community.
This is not about speed or competition. It is about walking thoughtfully, sharing the road, and arriving in Santiago with meaning.
