The Portuguese Camino is one of the most beloved pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela, following ancient paths through the green landscapes of Galicia.
Our journey begins in Baiona, one of the most beautiful seaside towns in Galicia, with a first night at the historic Parador de Baiona, set within the old walls of Monte Real and surrounded by the Atlantic. It is a memorable place to begin: elegant, maritime, and deeply connected to the long history of sailors, merchants, travelers, and pilgrims on this coast.
From Baiona, we continue toward Santiago de Compostela through a rich and changing Galician landscape. The first walking day follows the coast toward Vigo, with beaches, sea views, fishing towns, and the wide blue presence of the Ría de Vigo. To keep the day comfortable, we walk the most scenic part of the stage and avoid the longer urban approach into Vigo.
From Vigo and Redondela, the route joins the historic Portuguese Camino and begins to turn inland through Pontevedra, Caldas de Reis, Padrón, Milladoiro, and finally Santiago. Along the way, we walk through forests, vineyards, river valleys, Roman roads, stone crosses, thermal towns, quiet villages, and places closely connected to the story of Saint James.
This tour is a complete Camino experience in its own right, and it is also the perfect continuation of our Porto to Baiona journey. Together, the two tours allow travelers to walk the Portuguese Coastal Camino from Porto to Santiago in two beautiful chapters. It is ideal for those who cannot take the full journey at once, or for anyone who has already walked one section and now wishes to complete the other.
